Naked cake

I found myself admiring the new trend that's mostly used for bridal cakes, which is referred to as 'naked cakes.' Naked cakes require minimal icing, and a lot of buttercream, good stacking, and patience to scrape and re-scrape icing in a strategic way.
I iced three different layer cakes individually, stacked them, and then coated the whole stack of cakes in buttcream. I then used a metal spatula and scraped off the excess to expose some of the actual sides of the cake.
